Can you sing, dance or play an instrument? How about juggling knives or walking tightropes? The talent show portion of the Edmonds City Fair is looking for more entrants.

Come on, Burnaby. We know you’ve got talent, and now’s the time to get on stage and strut your stuff.

The Edmonds City Fair is hosting its 11th annual talent show as part of the fun on Sunday, July 19.

“It’s a good way for kids to demonstrate their talent to the community, and it’s a good stepping stone because they could possibly get recruited for other performances or talent shows,” said Olivia Leyser from Volunteer Burnaby, which helps organize the fair.

The contest starts at noon on the stage on Edmonds Street, across from New Vista, and there’s no entry fee. The panel of celebrity judges includes the Burnaby NOW’s own Lara Graham, former Miss Teen Burnaby Julianne Nieh, plus a surprise judge.

The top three prizes are Visa gift cards worth $100, $75 and $50. Prizes for runners up include gift certificates and gift baskets from Lost in the ‘50s Drive-In, Me-n-Ed’s Pizza Parlor, HairZone and Esthetics, Waves Coffee House, Metropolis at Metrotown, and Volunteer Grandparents, which donated toys and candy. Elvis and Marilyn Monroe impersonators will hand out the prizes at 2:30 p.m. in front of the Edmonds Community Centre.

According to Leyser, there are already 10 entries, including dancing, musical theatre, acapella, slam poetry and singing.
