The City of Burnaby is hosting an open house about its Sixth Street Community Plan at Edmonds Community School tonight.
A draft of the plan includes the areas from Edmonds Street to Tenth Avenue and Canada Way to Sixth Street. The public is being encouraged to provide comment on the community proposal.
"The draft plan creates a vision for a vibrant, mixed-use urban village characterized by street-front commercial development and a wide range of housing options, supported by transit," the city's website states. "The goal of the plan is to foster a strong sense of community identity and commercial vitality in the area."
Council approved the draft plan at the Feb. 4 council meeting, and the city is accepting public comment until April 26.
Comments can also be submitted on the city's website, at www.burnaby.ca
The open house is in the Edmonds Community School gym on 7651 18th Ave., between 6 and 9 p.m. Thursday night.
