Burnaby RCMP stepped up speed enforcement measures at the bottom of Cariboo Hill Monday morning after another serious pedestrian involved crash at a crosswalk there Saturday evening.

A 15-year-old girl died after being hit at the unlit crosswalk last Wednesday.

Police responded to reports of another pedestrian being struck there at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

The man was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle involved failed to remain at the scene, according to police.

Mounties are now looking for a black Dodge Charger with possible damage to the front passenger side.

“This is the third collision that Burnaby RCMP has responded to since Wednesday in this same area,” stated an RCMP press release.

Police are again urging all pedestrians, cyclists and drivers to remain alert in low light and wet weather conditions.

Anyone with information about Saturday’s crash is asked to call Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 and ask to speak with traffic services.
