Two people were arrested and charged with a variety of offences after a shotgun reported stolen in Burnaby was recovered last Thursday in Hope.

At approximately 10 p.m. on Nov. 15, a Hope RCMP officer stopped a car and noticed a shotgun in the back of the car. After more investigation, the police connected the shotgun to one stolen from a Burnaby home.

A search warrant on two Hope residences then yielded shotgun ammunition, as well as several bags of methamphetamine.

"It's very nerve-wracking as a police officer to have a vehicle pulled over and see a firearm in the car," Const. Tracy Wolbeck of the Hope RCMP said in a press release. "We got drugs and a very powerful firearm off the streets with this file, and in our world, that's a big success."

Justin Olson, 26, of Hope has been charged with possession of a firearm and was remanded in custody.

Kyle Rowlinson, 27, of Hope has been charged with breach of undertaking, unauthorized possession of a firearm, occupying a vehicle in which there was a firearm, possession of a firearm, careless use of a firearm, and possession of stolen property, and is also remanded in court.
