About $12,000 in fireworks snagged from Burnaby site

The Burnaby RCMP is looking for the public's help after 100 boxes of fireworks worth approximately $12,000 was stolen late Sunday or early Monday.

The fireworks went missing from a business in the 5900-block of Broadway Ave. sometime between 11: 30 p.m. on Sunday night and 9: 30 a.m. on Monday morning.

Police believe the culprits entered through a back door and, once inside, stole the fireworks, as well a 50-inch television and a laptop computer.

Burnaby RCMP currently have no suspect descriptions and are warning the public they may be trying to sell the fireworks prior to Halloween this Wednesday.

"Police are asking the public to report suspicious sales of fireworks," said Cpl. Rick Skolrood of the Burnaby RCMP, in a press release.
