The Vancouver North East Chiefs, based in Burnaby, won the 2024 BCEHL U18 AAA men's hockey championship in a 2-0 series sweep of the Okanagan Rockets on home ice at Scotia Barn.

One of Burnaby's top minor hockey teams is just two wins away from competing at Canada's national men's under-18 championships.

The Vancouver North East Chiefs, which serves AAA players out of Burnaby, New West and the Tri-Cities, won their second B.C. provincial title in three years last weekend.

The red, blue and white swept the BCEHL finals' series 2-0 over the Okanagan Rockets at Scotia Barn (6501 Sprott St.). The scores were 5-0 on Friday, March 22, and 4-1 on Saturday, March 23.

Now, the Chiefs are looking to earn a spot at the 2024 TELUS Cup in late April, but they'll need to wrangle the Alberta-champion Calgary Buffaloes first.

The best-of-three Pacific regional series is scheduled for April 5 to 7, also at Scotia Barn, with the winner advancing to Membertou, N.S.

In 2022, Vancouver North East qualified for the national club tournament, but only registered one win in five games.

The Chiefs finished second in this year's BCEHL standings with a record of 28-4-2-2.
