This free, family-friendly event will celebrate the end of the year with Japanese mochi-pounding

Get ready for a wonderful variety of performances and vendors at the Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre.

The Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre is hosting its annual Mochitsuki to celebrate the end of the year this Friday.

Mochitsuki, meaning mochi-pounding, is a Japanese end-of-year tradition.

The event will include fresh and frozen mochi for sale, a mochi-pounding demonstration by the Vancouver Japanese Gardeners Association, pound-your-own mochi, stage performances and a variety of food and beverage vendors.

Vendors will include:

  • Mükasi Coffee Roasters
  • Japanese Crepe Sasuke
  • Kanadell Japanese Bakery
  • eF and Be Bakehouse
  • Bon Mano Bon
  • Japadog
  • Japan Rice Bowl Association

There will be performances by Chibi Taiko, Satsuki-Kai Dance and Vancouver Okinawa Taiko.
