Summer's in full swing, and it's time to get out and enjoy Burnaby.

We're continuing with our popular feature, our staff's Top 5 (Or More) Things To Do This Weekend. For this issue, we have the last week of the Western Lacrosse Association's regular season, a great Fiji Festival, some environmental workshops, a chance to "travel" and a safety clinic for children.

1Get cheering on Friday, July 27 as the Burnaby Lakers host the Langley Thunder at 7: 45 p.m. at the Bill Copeland arena for their final home game of the WLA season. The next night, the Lakers finish the regular season by going out to Coquitlam to play the Adanacs at 7 p.m. The Lakers are in a playoff battle and will be led offensively by Dane Stevens and Scott Jones.

Dan Lewis in goal and Pete McFetridge on the back line anchor one of the stingiest defences in the WLA. Tickets are available at the door.

2 Get celebrating the Fiji Festival, an annual

cultural event hosted by the Bula! Fiji Association of British Columbia and Jai Fiji TV Productions on Saturday, July 28 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Swangard Stadium. The festival includes traditional Fijian ceremonies and entertainment, multicultural entertainment, a soccer tournament, kids' zone, multi-ethnic cuisine and food stalls showcasing these culinary products.

3 Get armchair travelling on Friday, July 27 for Armchair Travellers, a presentation at the Bonsor Recreation Complex for 55+. This special presentation will focus on China and runs from 9: 15 to 11 a.m. A buffet breakfast is included, and the cost for the presentation is $5.25 for members.

4 Get learning on Saturday, July 28 with two adult environmental workshops at the Burnaby Art Gallery. The first, What's the Buzz with Bees?, runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and costs $20. The second, which also costs $20, is on Making Mason Bee Homes, and runs from 2 to 4 p.m. For more information or to register, call 604-297-4422.

604-297-4422. 5 Get safe with Kids Safety Day on Saturday, July 28 at Simon Fraser University. SFU campus security will be hosting the 15th annual Kids Safety Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free event will provide education focusing on child health and safety that is fun and engaging for both children and parents.

Spend a fun-filled afternoon with activities such as a bike rodeo, safety presentations, face painting, jumping castle, games, and draw prizes. For more info, contact SFU campus security at 778-782-5425.
