The Burnaby Blues and Roots Festival is as big as it gets in the city and tops our list of Top 5 events. We're continuing with our popular feature - our staff's Top 5 (Or More) Things To Do This Weekend, and we have a few more events sure to excite all locals as summer continues in our fine city.

1 Get grooving to the Burnaby Blues and Roots Festival on Saturday, Aug. 11 from 2 to 10 p.m. The Indigo Girls are the headliners, but also on the bill are Jimmie Vaughan and the Tilt-A-Whirl Band, featuring Lou Ann Barton; Amadou and Mariam; Meshell Ndegeocello; Kelly Joe Phelps; The Deep Dark Woods; The Washboard Union and No Sinner. 2 Get learning on Saturday, Aug. 11 at the Moveable Feast free youth workshop, Making Seed Paper, running from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Burnaby Art Gallery. This workshop is for six-to eightyearolds. Space is limited. Register at 604-297-4415 or email shaun.dacey@ burnaby.ca.

3 Get out and enjoy the Burnaby North Community Fair at Kensington Park and pool on Saturday, Aug. 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This free event features local entertainment, a mini midway, food, a resource fair, special offers by community merchants and loads of fun. The community fair is put on by the Burnaby North Community Association, Volunteer Burnaby and the Burnaby parks, recreation and cultural services department. For more, call 604-473-2353.

4 Get rocking to the sounds of Groove N Tonic, who will be playing on both Friday, Aug. 10 and Saturday, Aug. 11 at the Admiral Pub and Grill at 4125 E. 5 Get entertained on Saturday, Aug. 11 as the Burnaby Village Museum hosts Parasol Puppet's popular Punch & Judy shows. The shows are at the bandstand at noon and 1 p.m. The next day, Sunday, Aug. 12, Footlight Theatre's Vaudeville Variety show at Burnaby Village Museum is on at 1, 2 and 3 p.m., with special performances to mark the troupe's 40th anniversary.
