And since this is the last weekend of the summer and we get to enjoy a three-day Labour Day break, here's our list of favourite things this weekend.

1Get listening to Cj, the award-winning Bollywood performer, singer and recording artist who performs at the Grand Villa Casino at 4331 Dominion St. on Sunday, Sept. 4.

Tickets are $25 + tax, with doors opening at 6 p.m. and the show starting at 8 p.m. For more info, go to www.grandvillacasino. com.

2 Get paddling on Friday, Sept. 2 for the beaver wetland paddle, family program, running from 5: 30 to 7: 30 p.m. at Burnaby Lake Regional Park.

Basic canoeing instructions and equipment provided. Pre-register by calling 604-432-6359. Ages six and older, $16 per person.

Meet at the Burnaby Lake Nature House on Piper Avenue, just off of Winston Street. For more info, go to www.metrovancouver.org.

3 Get carousel riding on Monday, Sept. 5 for the Burnaby Village Museum's 40th anniversary celebration.

Today's an extra special day, not only because of free admission to the museum, but the free rides on the carousel, as co-sponsored by the Burnaby parks commission and CUPE Local 23.

The carousel and museum, open from 11 a.m. to 4: 30 p.m., are at 6501 Deer Lake Ave.

4 Get walking on Saturday, Sept. 3 for the Familiar Five Series free nature walk, running from 10: 30 to 11 a.m. at Burnaby Lake Regional Park.

5 Get active on Monday, Sept. 5 for the Volkssport Club noncompetitive five-km/10-km walk in Central Park. This event is free for new participants.
