TransLink prepares for late night New Year's Eve trips

TransLink will once again adjust its schedule to provide additional late-night services for New Year's Eve party-goers in Burnaby and the Lower Mainland.

The ball is about to drop, streamers will be everywhere, and TransLink will be running later schedules for New Year’s Eve festivities in Burnaby.

TransLink also won’t be parting from tradition, as all transit services are free after 5 p.m. on Dec. 31.

The SkyTrain will run on its usual weekday schedule with more frequent evening trains and an extra hour on New Year’s Eve. The last Expo Line to King George will leave Waterfront at 2:16 a.m.; and the last Canada Line train will leave Waterfront Station at 2:05 a.m. to YVR, and 2:15 a.m. to Richmond-Brighouse.

Bus routes will run usual weekday schedules with some routes running late-night trips, as well.

Additional bus times in Burnaby:

- The last 106 Metrotown Station bus leaves the New West station at 2:53 a.m.

- The last 106 New West Station bus leaves Metrotown station at 2:55 a.m.

- The last 130 Metrotown Station bus leaves the Kootenay loop at 1:36 a.m.

- The last 130 Kootenay loop bus leaves Metrotown station at 2:15 a.m.

For Jan. 1, bus, SeaBus and SkyTrain services will run Sunday and holiday schedules, but the West Coast Express trains and TranBus services will not operate.

On New Year’s Day, one-zone tickets will be good for travel across all zones.
