Dragon boat fest

Watch the dragon boat races at the annual Inlet Spring Regatta at Rocky Point Park in Port Moody (2800-block of Murray Street). The event runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and admission is free for spectators; food trucks, vendors, entertainment and a beer garden will be on site.

Thrift store opens

The Low Entropy Foundation opens its second thrift store in the Tri-Cities to support its social services programs. The ribbon-cutting for the new store at 107B-2748 Lougheed Hwy., Port Coquitlam, is at 9:45 a.m.

Badminton tournament

Eventival and Active Play Foundation team up for a badminton tournament from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at COSports (921 Seaborne Ave., Port Coquitlam) with mixed games. The winners will receive prizes.

Goodbye tax papers

Shred your unwanted confidential papers with the Port Coquitlam Community Foundation, which will have an Iron Mountain truck outside Canadian Tire (2125 Hawkins St.) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donations are accepted (suggested $10 for a banker box). Ever wondered how to reduce what you throw away and where it goes? Salina from PickEco will share insight on trash, both in and outside the house, at a workshop from 11 a.m. to noon at the Terry Fox Library (2150 Wilson Ave., Port Coquitlam).

Kathak workshop
