Three giants from the music world share the spotlight in the opening concert of the year by the New Westminster Symphony Orchestra: Mozart. Beethoven. Brahms.
Orchestra conductor and music director Jin Zhang has chosen Mozart's Overture to the Impresario to open the program. This is an early work the master wrote as his entry in a musical competition in February of 1786, according to local arts promoter Tony Antonias.
Following the magic of Mozart, concert goers will enjoy basking in the beauty of Beethoven and Brahms.
The orchestra, along with guest musicians Robert Rozek, violin; Bo Peng, cello; and Keiko Alexander, pianist, will perform Beethoven's Triple Concerto for Violin, Cello and Piano.
Next up, an interesting piece by the great Johannes Brahms. Serenade Number 1 in D major is a work that represents one of the earliest efforts by Brahms to write orchestral music.
"What could be more relaxing and enjoyable on a Sunday afternoon than a concert featuring three musical giants such as Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms," said Antonias.
