Two men were charged last week in the Dec. 2, 2011 death of Burnaby resident Branson Sanders.

19-year-old Burnaby resident Shakib Shakib and 19-year-old Surrey resident Brandon Nandon now face second-degree murder charges in Sanders' death.

Branson's severely burned body was found in the bushes off Fareham Avenue and Elwell Street on Dec. 2, 2011.

The RCMP's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was called in to work with the Burnaby RCMP.

Investigators believe Sanders' body was dumped in the Edmonds area and that his death actually occurred at a residence in the 18000 block of 55 Avenue in Surrey.

"Investigators believe there were several witnesses within the residence at the time that Branson was killed," IHIT spokesperson Sgt. Jennifer Pound said in a press release. "We are asking for those people to come forward and speak with IHIT investigators."

Pound said IHIT was assisted by RCMP members from the Burnaby, Surrey Clearwater and Kamloops RCMP detachments, as well as the Alberta RCMP's K Division.

Shakib was charged on March 6 with two counts of robbery and two counts of uttering death threats. IHIT investigators believed he had fled to Alberta and was returning to B.C. Police arrested Shakib in Clearwater.

Nandon was arrested separately from Shakib.
