This morning, Uber Eats announced changes to its service in response to COVID-19 that apply Burnaby restaurants.
The changes include waiving fees for certain restaurants.
- Free delivery from independent restaurants on the Uber Eats app (Metro Vancouver and Victoria in British Columbia)
- Dedicated marketing campaigns to promote local, independent restaurants – especially those who newly sign up to the app
- The option to opt-in to daily payouts from Uber Eats (standard is weekly payouts)
- Campaign to promote ‘contactless’ deliveries
- Uber commits to 300,000+ free meals for healthcare workers across U.S. and Canada in coordination with local governments
“The economic impact of COVID-19 has been significant and will continue to be a very difficult for restaurants and their staff,” said Ian Tostenson, president and CEO of the B.C. Restaurant and Food Services Association. “We commend the efforts by Uber Eats to help local businesses continue to serve consumers during these challenging times in our communities.”
