Sunshine Coast RCMP arrested a 33-year-old man after receiving a report that someone pulled a knife on a store employee on Nov. 30 around 5 p.m.

The man has been charged with assault with a weapon and theft, after being identified through surveillance video, and surrendering to police after he became aware they were looking for him.

Witnesses told the police a man entered a convenience store in the 5500 block of Sunshine Coast Highway in Sechelt and refused to put on a mask. When he was refused service by the store clerk, the police report said, he walked out without paying and was then confronted by the clerk. The man pulled out a knife and brandished it towards the clerk, who then went back into the store.
