The snow has mainly subsided in Burnaby, but cold weather was still wreaking havoc with commutes.

The City of Burnaby warned about road closures on two main local streets.

“Crews are working on an issue involving downed TransLink trolley wires, which has Boundary Road, from Imperial Street to Vanness Avenue, and Kingsway, from Patterson Avenue to Boundary Road currently closed,” read a tweet by the city at around 7:30 a.m.

The downed wires were sparking and live, which hampered Burnaby fire department efforts.

The situation has now been repaired and the roads are open, although drivers are warned there is heavy congestion.
