Vancouver man arrested in Montreal for alleged Burnaby sexual assault

A Vancouver man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for his role in an alleged sexual assault at the Edmonds SkyTrain station this past February was arrested in Montreal this week.

A Vancouver man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for his role in an alleged sexual assault at the Edmonds SkyTrain station this past February was arrested in Montreal this week.

George Harvey Roti, 23, faces one charge of sexual assault and one charge of breach of recognizance.

The arrest stems from a Feb. 18 assault, which occurred just after midnight. A 22-year-old Vancouver woman waiting for the train at Edmonds, was approached, asked for the time and assaulted several times while getting on and off the train.

Roti was arrested with the help of a friend of the woman and later released with conditions, including a promise to appear in court.

After Roti breached his conditions, Transit Police conducted an extensive investigation into his whereabouts, which included the use of social media. Working with the Montreal Police Service, Transit Police located Roti quickly. Roti was remanded in custody and is scheduled to be transported back to Vancouver for his court appearance.
