Burnaby RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team is continuing to investigate a fatal hit-and-run crash that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.

Last night, at 9:45 p.m., Burnaby RCMP officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run collision at Canada Way and Imperial Street. A motorcyclist was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The video below shows firefighters and paramedics working feverishly to try and resuscitate the motorcyclist.

The initial investigation suggests that the suspect vehicle rear-ended the motorcycle before fleeing the area, said a Burnaby RCMP news release. A vehicle's bumper was seen lying in the road at the crash site.

Police are asking that anyone who witnessed this collision or may have dash-cam video in the area between 9:30 and 10 p.m., to contact the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999.

“This is a very tragic incident that has not only taken a life, but will affect countless individuals,” said Cpl. Mike Kalanj of the Burnaby RCMP, in a news release. “If you can assist us in our investigation, please come forward and contact the Burnaby RCMP.”
