Burnaby RCMP are seeking the public's assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a bear spray incident on Jan. 24. 2022.

Mounties in Burnaby are seeking the public's help to identify a suspect who was allegedly involved in a bear spray incident this past January. 

In a news release, Burnaby RCMP Media Relations Officer Cpl. Mike Kalanj says that on Jan. 24, 2022, an employee from a business approached a driver and vehicle near their workplace that they believed to be suspicious. 

Kalanj added that after a short confrontation, the suspect entered the employee's store on Randolph Avenue near Kingsway and bear-sprayed two people before leaving the area. 

Both victims were not seriously injured but required medical attention. 

"This was a troubling attack. Burnaby RCMP has taken a number of steps in an attempt to identify the suspect, but we are now turning to the public for assistance," Kalanj said in the release.

"Please take a look at this suspect. If you recognize him, please contact our investigators." 

Kalanj noted the suspect was wearing a high-visibility orange jacket with a hood at the time of the incident.
