Update: Pedestrian dies following recent Burnaby crash

Speed, alcohol and drugs are not considered factors.

Burnaby RCMP is looking for witnesses and video after a pedestrian-involved collision on Friday night (Dec. 16) left a 54-year-old man with life-threatening injuries.

Burnaby RCMP now say the 54-year-old man involved in the crash on Dec. 16 has died in hospital from his injuries. 

Speed, alcohol and drugs are not considered factors in the collision and the driver continues to cooperate with police. 

Dec. 17 at 11 a.m.

Mounties in Burnaby are asking for witnesses to come forward, and video, after a 54-year-old man suffered serious injuries in a collision.

In a release, RCMP explain officers responded to a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian Friday night (Dec. 16) at roughly 9:50 p.m. at the intersection of Patterson Avenue and Central Boulevard. 

Spokesperson Cpl. Mike Kalanj said the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police. Alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors in the crash. 

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-altering injuries. 

"Our investigators want to speak to anyone that witnessed this collision or has dash-cam video of the incident," Kalanj said in the release. 

"Please call Burnaby RCMP if you have any information."
