Three "signature" items from Vancouver's DL Chicken and Top Rope Birria collaboration on Oct. 1 at Studio Brewing, Burnaby.

Calling all chicken lovers. Two of Vancouver's favourites, DL Chicken and Top Rope Birria food truck, are teaming up for a much-awaited collaboration and a limited "one-day-only" menu.

On Saturday, Oct. 1, the Vancouver food truck is stopping in Burnaby at Studio Brewing for an exclusive one-off pop-up.

Chicken and beer? Be sure to keep your calendars open.

Doug Stephen, co-owner and chef of the Downlow chicken shack, said that he wanted to bring the collaboration to a new audience in a new location.

"It was a no-brainer," he said about bringing the collaboration to Burnaby. "I have had the chance to try Studio beers, and they bring out some great flavourful beers for not just Vancouver, but whole of British Columbia."

He said that it's important for him and his team to create something unique and be part of that experience.

These limited "signature" items are available only for a few hours or less so customers are warned, in Stephen's words: "You snooze, you lose."

So, what are these talked-about signature items?

Away from the public eyes, the chefs tested a three-layer cheesy quesabirria chicken pie in the truck around six months ago. It made it to the menu.

"The bottom layer is made of cheese, beef, cilantro and pickled onions," Stephen said. "The second layer has cheese, hot chicken tenders, and, finally, the top layer has our famous DL house sauce and nachos cheese sauce."

If you're already salivating, the dish you are looking out for is called "DL x TR "Pizza" by the slice."

Walking Taco

Yes, you read it right.

According to the chef, this signature item is a play on Frito pie, a dish popular in the U.S. South.

This taco is filled with Birria Beef, chopped chicken tender, turbo nacho cheese sauce, DL Sauce and fresh pico. And the best part? It is served on a bed of Ruffles KFC potato chips, which Stephen expects to be a bestseller.

The fan favourite Taco Tag Team Duo is also returning to the food truck this time.
