Question: How long have you lived in Burnaby?

Answer: (Marklund currently lives in Port Coquitlam. His business is based in Burnaby.)

Question: How long have you had your business in Burnaby?

A: In 1999 we opened our first retail store over in Burnaby North on Willingdon Avenue and Hastings Street.

Q: Why do you think you are uniquely qualified to represent the riding?

A: Being self-employed for 25, 30 years, I've put in a lot of time hiring people and making payroll and making sure the company is financially responsible. I believe I can bring that to the table when I'm elected and go to Victoria, I'll be able to voice that opinion within the party.

Q: What would be your own personal priority as an MLA?

A: I believe that the people of Burnaby North haven't had any proper representation here in Burnaby for the last 22 years with the Liberals and the NDP. I plan on being the voice for small business.

Q: What accomplishment in your life are you proudest of?

A: Well, and I'm not being facetious, but I've had a few of them. My company is probably the biggest one.

Q: Who, in your life, has been a role model for you?

A: I've had a couple of very strong people around me growing up. One of the most important people in my life has been a gentlemen name by the of Bill Muirhead Sr., a soccer coach, and he took me under his wing when I was a young lad and gave me some life lessons to grow forward and to make a difference in my approach to life. Later in life, it's been Mr. (John) Cummins (leader of the B.C. Conservatives). He's really led me to the table and actually opened my eyes about how people can step forward and make a difference.
