The Burnaby RCMP asked the West Vancouver Police Department to conduct an independent investigation into an arm injury suffered by a woman while she was being apprehended by Burnaby officers.
On Aug. 22, Burnaby RCMP officers responded to a 911 call and took a woman into custody under provisions of the Mental Health Act. She suffered an arm injury, for which she was treated, and she was then committed for psychiatric assessment.
The Burnaby officers involved in the incident were not injured.
The West Vancouver Police Department will now conduct an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman's injury.
