1 Get dancing on Saturday, April 28 for International Dance Day at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts at 6450 Deer Lake Ave. Celebrate modern dance and International Dance Day with performances and class demonstrations by the Shadbolt Centre's dance students. This free event starts at 10 a.m. For more information, call 604-205-3000 or go to www.shadboltcentre.com.

2 Get bargain hunting on Saturday, April 28 at the giant flea market, running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Maywood Community Centre at 4567 Imperial St. This sale features lots of bargains, door prize and concessions. Admission is 50 cents, tables are $10. For more information, call 604-664-8208.

3 Get celebrating on Saturday, April 28 for the Bengali New Year celebrations, UTSAB - A Cultural Heritage of Bengal, at the Bonsor Recreation Complex banquet hall at 6550 Bonsor Ave. Running from 6 to 10 p.m., this event is called Pohela Boishakh or Baishakhi Utsab in Bengali. There will be some food stalls and display stands of Bengal's art and handicraft for exhibition only. It will be an evening of fun-filled cultural activities. Local performers will be performing songs and dances. Entrance fee is by donation.

4 Get cheering for the Burnaby Jr. Lakers as they open their season on Sunday, April 29 at 7 p.m. against the Delta Islanders at the Bill Copeland Sports Centre. The Jr. Lakers are led by coach John Wilson and first-year player Tyler Buchan, who has a good lacrosse future in front of him. Tickets are available at the door.

5 Get eating for a good cause at the Saturday, April 28 pancake breakfast at South Burnaby United Church at 7591 Gray Ave. Running from 8 a.m. to noon, this event is sponsored by the As One That Serves men's club. All proceeds go to worthy charitable causes.
