1 Get hammering with a beginner blacksmith course at Burnaby Village. Learn the basic techniques of heating metal in a forge and shaping it with a hammer and anvil. This weekend's course is on Saturday, April 14, running from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $75 per session, pre-registration required. 4 Get artistic with the Spring Extravaganza, Burnaby Artists' Guild art exhibition and sale at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, 6540 Deer Lake Ave. The opening celebrations are on Friday, April 13 at 7: 30 p.m. and show goes from 7 to 10 p.m. Featured artist James Koll and the guild's many talented artists will showcase original artwork in a variety of styles and mediums. Artists will be in attendance and will offer demonstrations. Show includes a raffle for an original painting and a sale of art cards and magnets. Free admission. Free parking. com. 5 Get cheering for some of the best ringette players in the country as the final games of the Canadian national ringette championships take place on Saturday, April 14. Games have been taking place in Burnaby and New Westminster since April 9 at Bill Copeland Arena at 3676 Kensington Ave., 8Rinks at 6501 Sprott St. and Moody Park at 701 Eighth Ave. in New Westminster. 6 Get listening on Saturday, April 14 to the Westminster Church Choir and other talented musicians as they present Sing Alleluia, a retelling of the story of Christ's victory over death, through dynamic new songs, wellknown hymns and gospel songs. The event's at 7: 15 p.m. at Westminster SDA Church, 7925 10th Ave., Burnaby (enter from 11th Avenue off of Sixth Street). The concert is designed for people of all ages and denominations.
