Woman arrested after man fatally stabbed in Yaletown

Police say a 34-year-old woman is in custody after a 29-year-old man was fatally stabbed Monday, July 11.

A 34-year-old woman is in police custody after a man died from stab wounds Monday, July 11.

The alleged homicide occurred around 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Smithe and Homer streets, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

A bystander called the police to report a man had been stabbed; officers arrived shortly to find the wounded man.

"They discovered a 29-year-old victim suffering grave injuries. The man was taken to hospital, but he died a short time later," say police.

The woman was arrested nearby and is in custody. Police have not said if she has been charged or how, if at all, the two were connected.

It's the eighth homicide of 2022, according to the VPD.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist investigators is asked to call the Vancouver Police Homicide Unit at 604-717-2500," state police.
