A woman jumped into Trout Lake Friday to rescue a dog that had ventured out onto the frozen water.
Captured on YouTube and Instagram, the dog is standing out in the middle of the lake when it suddenly falls through the ice and appears to be unable to get out of the water. Someone can be heard calling to the dog when the woman starts walking towards it, breaking through the ice.
The woman helped the dog to shore. According to the YouTube user that posted the video, Ben West, the woman was rushed to a nearby home where she was put into a warm bath while paramedics were called.
West also posted a photo to Instagram saying: “This is the most amazing thing I have ever seen with my own eyes. A dog went out onto the ice and fell through at Trout Lake and without hesitating this woman went out in the water breaking the ice with her hands and rescued the dog… Community members all rushed to help and support her. We were all calling the dog’s name so it would keep swimming. She was rushed to a house in the neighbourhood and put in a warm bath while the paramedics were enroute.”
