It is Youth Week in Burnaby and to celebrate, city council awarded certificates of recognition to youth who make a difference in our community.
Jeo Mateo, Kayla Wang, Margaret Anteros, Nicolle Salas and Priya Sharma all won bursaries as well as certificates in recognition of their community work.
Alona Besan, Amanda Lee, Amy Vatera, Amy Wesley, Bill Xu, Billy Trengove, Blake Tomei, Brittany Titian, Caitlynn Sturm, Came Suze Duncan, Cara Wong, Chaewon Song, Donnavin Steel-Payne, Devon Zhao, Eleni Beciaris, Emma McSpadden, Guray Bhullar, Hyun Na, Iris Xie, Jackie Cao, Jared Mah, Jasper Chan, Jeanne d’Arc Mubalama, Jet Thorsteinsson, Kevin Chung, Kyle Sim, Milad Mohammadi, Rebecca Ywet, Roya Nari, Tanvi Bhati, Terry Zhang, Ty Klim, Vanessa Jokanovich and Vincent Lau received certificates of recognition.
Katya Morin won the Burnaby Youth Week logo contest.
The certificates are meant to recognize youth who are 18 years or younger who have positive attitudes, make important contributions to the community and demonstrate initiative, enthusiasm and commitment. They may also have overcome adversity.
Youth Week takes place during the first week of May.
