Simon Fraser University middle distance runners Jennifer Johnson and Cameron Proceviat were singled out for academic excellence by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association.

The Clan pair were given All-Academic honours following a successful season both on and off the track.

Johnson, a grad student in international studies, was ranked fourth in NCAA Division II in the women’s 5,000 metres, while achieving a 3.93 grade point average. She also earned All-American honours in cross-country and on the indoor track.

Proceviat, a Burnaby resident, achieved all-conference honours in outdoor track, winning his first-ever Great Northwest conference title in the men’s mile.

He also won three conference indoor championships in the 800m and on two SFU relay teams, while earning a 3.85 GPA in molecular biology.

Proceviat was a key member of the men’s cross-country team that qualified for the Div. II nationals for the very first time.

Earlier this year, Johnson and Proceviat received the SFU Terry Fox Awards for Inspiration.
