The Alpha Aztecs played one of their best games ever to reach the provincial AA high school rugby championships for the first time.
The Aztecs defeated Sentinel 35-17 earlier this month and are seeded 14th heading into the provincial playdowns, which begin Friday in West Vancouver.
The provincial berth was a first for Alpha, which won a Tier II New Zealand Shield banner in 2008.
Alpha will be led by Keegan Fletcher, Alex Vasquez, Tony Branson and Willie Davis.
Also representing the Aztecs at the high school provincials will be Elio and Stefano Pinoni, Kayonee Genest, Trevor BassoStephenson, Michael Wu, Sergio Wan, Jag Sandhu, Takahero Tanaka, Keith Hua, Michael Bertoia, Jacob Tan, Anthony Ruvalcaba and Alex Joe.
The AA provincials pick up in Abbotsford on May 30 and conclude on June 2.
