The Campo Atletico men's soccer team defeated Rino's 4-2 last week, securing a spot in the Vancouver Metro Soccer League for another year.

Campo Atletico made it their own little cup run and secured their spot in the Vancouver Metro Soccer League’s premier division for 2018/19.

In a three-way battle to avoid being relegated, Atletico got some fortunate turns early in the week when EDC Burnaby fell 3-0 to the Coquitlam Metro-Ford Wolves, and Westside FC was hammered 6-1 by Rino’s.

Needing a straight win to hurdle past both rivals, or at minimum a draw to force a tie-breaker, the Burnaby-based Atletico doubled Rino’s 4-2 on Wednesday to finish ninth in the 12-team league, with a 6-1-15 record.

Scoring for Campo were Cristian Villatoro, with two, Matias Guedes and team scoring leader Edson Castro, with his 10th of the season.
