Burnaby Mountain alumna Jacey Bailey picked up an All-Big Sky honour this week, when she was named to the conference’s second all-star team.
The 20-year-old, in her second season with Northern Arizona, was one of four players from the squad to earn such an honour, including three to all-conference teams.
It’s the first time in 13 years the Lumberjacks had three receive such awards.
Bailey, who red-shirted a year ago after transferring in from Florida Atlantic, was Northern Arizona’s top three-point shooter this season. By converting 2.3 threes per game, she ranked third in the conference.
A Burnaby native, Bailey finished with 67 treys, connecting on 36.6 per cent of her attempts.
The six-foot-tall forward-guard also placed in the top-10 in league scoring and rebounding, averaging 14.4 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.
Bailey finished as Big Sky’s third-leading scorer, including 14 points and a team-high eight rebounds in last week’s 68-63 loss to Portland State.
In the opening round of the Big-Sky Conference championships this week, Bailey counted 13 points, including going 3-for-5 from the three-point line, and five rebounds, in the team’s 68-65 win over the Montana Grizzlies. In the semifinal on Wednesday, the Lumberjacks’ season came to an end in a 76-71 loss to Montana State. Bailey chipped in four points and six boards.
The Big Sky championship finals were cancelled Thursday in response to the COVID-19 virus outbreak.
