Kaleigh Fratkin of Burnaby scored her third goal of the season for Boston University in the school's 5-2 win over Harvard in the opening game of the 34th annual Beanpot women's hockey tournament on Feb. 1.
Fratkin, a sophomore defender on Boston, gave BU a 2-0 lead with her power-play goal against the Ivy League school. Although Harvard's two counters both came on power plays, Boston killed off nine other penalty kill opportunities to record the win.
On Tuesday, the 10th-ranked Boston school lost 4-3 in overtime to No. 7 Northeastern in the final of the women's Beanpot, symbolic of hockey supremacy between Bostonarea university programs.
The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for Boston University and denies the women's team its first Beanpot title as a varsity program.
