Simon Fraser University men's basketball forward Zack Frehlick was named to the Great Northwest athletic conference academic all-star team.

Frehlick is one of 20 players in the conference to earn a spot on the squad.

Frehlick boasted a 4.15 grade point average in the Canadian grading system, which awards up to a 4.33. It is the highest mark in the conference, followed by Liam Gibcus of Alaska Anchorage, who is carrying an average of 3.84 in the American system, which allows up to 4.0.

It is the second time in as many years that Frehlick has been named to the conference scholar/athlete team.

Frehlick and the Clan will wrap up the regular season at home in the West Gym this weekend, starting on Thursday when they host Montana State University-Billings at 7 p.m. The team's final game of the year takes place on Saturday at 7 p.m. against Seattle Pacific University.

On Thursday, the SFU men's soccer team will be presented with their 2011 conference championship rings at halftime and on Saturday, the basketball team's graduating players, including Frehlick, will be honoured in a pre-game ceremony.
