Burnaby athletes held Royals lead college sports PacWest

Jordan Or of Burnaby heads a dominant showing by Douglas College on the current PacWest sports leaderboard.

The second-year Royals libero boasts an overwhelming lead with 143 digs at the halfway mark of the men's collegiate volleyball season.

Rex Fenton sits second overall in total service aces with 16, while three other Douglas players make up the top 10.

Kaleb Dawe, who made the top 15 in two other categories, is fourth with 15 aces. Jeff Taylor and Mark Vanderwal were sixth and 10th respectively.

Dawe, who is 12th overall with 69 digs, also recorded 80 kills for the second-place Royals men.

Taylor, a fifth-year, right-side hitter, figured in the top 10 in four separate categories.

The Burnaby North grad is second in total offensive stats, averaging five points per set. He is also third in total kills with 169. Taylor also registered 23 blocks.

Andrew Robson is 14th with 94 kills.

Victoria Hocking of Douglas leads the PacWest in kills and in total offence, averaging 3.33 winners per set and 4.10 points per set, respectively. Hocking also recorded 15 blocks.

Kalena Conners, with 27 blocks, and Rachel Birak, with 18, also figured into the top 10, despite the team's 1-11 record.

Jillian Noort and Rachelle Flores rounded out the top 15 in digs.

In PacWest basketball, Quincie Onyejekwe of Douglas is sixth overall with 55 rebounds, while averaging a ninth-best 15.43 points per game for the winless 0-7 Royal women's team.

Devan Haynes of Douglas is second overall in rebounding, averaging just under-10 boards per game.

Ravi Athwal currently sits in fourth place in men's league scoring, averaging 18.14 points per game.

Jason Aurel David is also in fourth place in overall assists, sporting 33 helpers or 4.71 assists per game for the 4-3 Royals.
