Simon Fraser University head coach Mike Renney reached a milestone 500th career win in women's softball.
Renney earned the historic win at home with a two-game sweep over Western Washington at Beedie Field on Saturday.
The Clan scored an 11-1 win in the opening game and then got by Western Washington 7-5 in the later game.
"They all add up pretty quick," said Renney in a school press release. "I'll probably remember that one for a while. The athletes played well today and I'm happy for them."
Cara Lukawesky went the distance in game one, allowing just two hits in five innings work.
SFU blew the game wide open in the third inning with home runs by Leah Riske, Sammie Olexa and Trisha Bouchard.
In the second game, sophomore pitcher Kelsie Hawkins allowed just one run in her first five innings before she gave way to Lukawesky in the sixth.
With the score tied 5-5 in the bottom of the sixth, Burnaby's Brittany Ribeiro clubbed a two-out two-run dinger over the left field fence, scoring Kelsey Haberl from second base.
Lukawesky came out in the seventh inning to record Renney's 500th win. The victory improves the Clan's record to 6-1
