Burnaby Collegiate Bulldogs win Junior Men's B.C. baseball title

The collegiate Burnaby Bulldogs repeated as B.C. junior men's baseball champions following a 5-4 win over the Kelowna Jays junior squad in the championship game in Kelowna last week.

The collegiate Burnaby Bulldogs repeated as B.C. junior men's baseball champions following a 5-4 win over the Kelowna Jays junior squad in the championship game in Kelowna last week.

Burnaby posted three wins and a single loss in the round robin before beating the Jays in the championship final. The junior Bulldogs are collegiate ballplayers selected from the Douglas College Royals and the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds to represent Team B.C.

The Bulldogs had four Burnaby players selected to the team, including shortstop Tyler Yorko, second baseman Taylor Lawrence, pitcher Douglas Strohan and catcher Josh Wray, all who played significant roles in the provincial championship win. All four players play for Douglas College.

The Collegiate Bulldogs will now represent B.C. at the 2013 national championships in Dartmouth, N.S. next year.
