The 12-year-old Burnaby golfer carded a two-over-par 146 after 36 holes to finish six shots behind a torrid four-under 140 by Richmond's Kathrine Chan.

Chan carved up the final 18 holes with a five-under-par 67 on the 5,280-yard tees at the Merritt Golf and Country Club on Aug. 28. Franois shot a one-under 71 on the final day.

Franois started the final round just two shots of back of Chan following an opening round 75.

In boys' play, Callum Davison of Duncan shot a five-under 139 to win a provincial title.

Jake Lane of Fort St. John and Tristan Mandur of Mill Bay finished two shots back in second place.

In other golf, Lucas Gatto of Burnaby placed in a tie for fourth place at the Okanagan junior championships at Predator Ridge in Vernon on Aug. 27.

Gatto, 17, shot a two-round total of 147 following a par 71 on the second day of competition on the 6,591-yard course.

Jared du Toit of Kimberly shot back-to-back three-under 68s to finish first at 136.

In the boys' 13-and-under division, Steve Ballesteros of Burnaby placed third following a 155 from the 5,965-yard tees.

Landon Stellingwerff of Calgary won the youth boys' division with an eight-over-par 150.
