St. Thomas More Collegiate student Kevin Vigna captured the third stop on the Canadian Junior Golf Association tour last week.
Kevin Vigna fired one of the best rounds so far this season, winning the boys' 15 to 19 age group with a two-under-par 142 total at par-72 University Golf Club on March 25.
Vigna,16, came from three shots back with a three-under-par 69 to edge first-round leader Stuart MacDonald of Vancouver by a single stroke.
MacDonald missed an opportunity to force a playoff following a bogey on the 17th hole.
"Today I played well and I hit 16 greens in regulation that helps a lot," said Vigna in an association release. "Getting the ball in the fairway off the tee was key for me."
The win was Vigna's third victory on the CJGA tour.
Alan Tolusso of Burnaby finished in a tie for 12th place at 154, while Lucas Gatto and Kevin Li finished with totals of 162 and 165, respectively.
Alex FranÂois of Burnaby was the runner-up in the boys' 14-and-under division. FranÂois carded a three-over 147 to finish two shots behind Isaac Chen of Richmond.
In the girls' division, Sumie FranÂois placed fourth overall, four shots off the pace set by eventual winner Alix Kong of West Vancouver. FranÂois finished with a two-day 156 total.
