St. Thomas More Collegiate junior Gabrielle Laguerta led B.C.'s under-15 girls' basketball team to a 64-42 win over Manitoba in the opening game of the national championships in St. John's, Nfld. on Monday.
Laguerta led Team B.C. with 20 points, including five-of-seven three-pointers and shooting a sizzling 63 per cent from the floor.
Burnaby Mountain Secondary's Jacey Bailey contributed three points and seven rebounds to the team's opening win.
