Candace Letham clubbed an over-the-fence home run to lead Burnaby in the gold-medal final.

Chelsea Turtle also smacked a couple of dingers for the Hurricanes, who played three back-to-back games en route to winning the B.C. title.

Burnaby edged the Langley Xtreme 5-4 to advance to the final. The 'Canes also defeated the New West Riot 10-3 in the medal round.

In the playoffs, Burnaby dropped its opening game 5-3 to the Rage, but rallied to eliminate the Coquitlam Classics, Fleetwood Force and Strawberry Vale in the double knockout round on July 9.

In round-robin play, Burnaby opened with its first of three games against the Rage, taking a 4-2 victory. The Hurricanes followed up the win with an 11-6 win over the Abbotsford Outlaws.

Burnaby got sound pitching throughout the tournament from Amanda Jones, Jackie Bain, Jaclyn Stratton and Katie Erickson, who was lost in the playoff round with a dislocated shoulder.

The 'Canes will host the Western Canadian championships at Squint Lake Park in August against teams from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and B.C.
