Light snow and wet conditions didn't stop Burnaby Lake from recording four tries on the road and an important bonus point following a 29-5 win over the UBC Old Boys last weekend.
The match opened with a drop goal from Burnaby's fly half Geoff Ryan to put the visitors up 3-0.
The Ravens recorded the first try on the ensuing kick off, running the ball wide and working some smooth passing inside to full back Shea O'Hallon, who dotted down to make it 5-3.
That was all the offence the Ravens could muster however, as their handling errors and inability to break through Burnaby's defensive line saw them on the back foot for much of the rest of the match.
Last season’s CDI player of the year Joe Dolesau ran in a try before the half and with Ryan's convert Burnaby led 10-5 at the break.
Burnaby's offence kept rolling and it was No.8 Admir Cejvanovic who was next to crash over for a try with Ryan's conversion making it 17-5.
Burnaby's pressure then resulted in another try as outside centre Jeke Gotegote punched one in under the uprights and Ryan's conversion made it 24-5.
The fourth and final try came courtesy of Scott MacKay, who finished off a series of Burnaby mauls and forward drives to go over in the far corner.
"I've personally never played in snow and it's always hard to play in wet conditions like today," said Cejvanovic. "(Jericho Park) is not the easiest place to come play and it was a real testament to the boys that we got the 'W' and the bonus point.
"We knew (the Ravens) were going to slow the ball down and go up the gut, and for most of the game they went off their nine and we were able to hold them off," Cejvanovic added.
Burnaby will look to add to their nine-point standings lead next week when they host the University of Victoria Vikes at Burnaby Lake Sports Complex on Saturday, March 1st.
As of Thursday, Feb. 27, Burnaby Parks had closed all grass fields, so check the latest field conditions before setting out on Saturday.
Elsewhere in CDI Premier League play, Capilano RFC rallied back from 19-0 down to defeat the Vikes 35-19 on Saturday. In the 2014 edition of the Victoria derby 100 Years War, Castaway Wanderers (4-4) defeated no.2 James Bay (5-3) by a score of 24-15. Vancouver Rowing Club defeated Meraloma 34-10 at Brockton Oval.
Next week James Bay are away to UBCOB Ravens at Jericho Park. Meraloma will head to the North Shore to face off against Capilano RFC and the Rowers travel to the Island for a clash with the Castaway Wanderers.
