Burnaby Lake wins Lighthouse 7s

Burnaby Lake Rugby Club pulled off a rugby sevens double at the second annual BLRC Lighthouse 7s tournament last Saturday. The elite men's and women's teams both won their respective titles at the fifth stop on the B.C.

Burnaby Lake Rugby Club pulled off a rugby sevens double at the second annual BLRC Lighthouse 7s tournament last Saturday.

The elite men's and women's teams both won their respective titles at the fifth stop on the B.C. Rugby's summer sevens calendar. The win for the men's side officially gave Burnaby Lake the summer series title.

The Burnaby men defeated Kolofu'ou from Tonga 42-14 in the championship final. The Lakers also knocked off Abbotsford 357 in the semifinals.

The Burnaby Lake women wrapped up its second consecutive divisional series last month in Abbotsford.

The Laker women romped to its fifth straight series victory this summer with 36-7 win over the Meraloma.

Burnaby Lake also made it to the finals in the under16 and social divisions.

The Laker juniors did well to stay with the B.C. u-16 side that will compete at the Western Canada Summer Games, but wound up falling in a final score of 19-14.

Burnaby Lake fell 21-12 to Velox in the social final.

Burnaby Lake took the u-14 final over Delta.
