The Burnaby Lakers are looking to regroup following a 17-3 loss to the Victoria Shamrocks in Game 3 of their Western Lacrosse Association best-of-seven semifinal series last week.

Victoria jumped out to a 4-1 first-period lead and then cruised to victory after outscoring the visitors 7-2 in a runaway middle period at Bear Mountain Arena on Aug. 9.

Burnaby got single goals from Dane Stevens, Casey Jackson and Shaun Dhaliwal in the first half of the game to keep the score relatively close at 7-3 at the 11-minute mark.

But the 'Rocks finished the second period with four unanswered goals before closing out the final 20 minutes with a half dozen more counters.

Dan Lewis was replaced by backup Spencer England at 16:09 of the second period after Victoria took an 11-3 lead. Lewis and England combined for 30 stops in the one-sided contest.

Corey Small and junior Brody Eastwood both had hat tricks for the Shamrocks. Jackson figured in on all three Burnaby goals.

The win gave Victoria a 3-0 lead in the series, which resumes tonight (Sunday) at the Bill Copeland Sports Centre. Game time is scheduled for 7:45 p.m.
