Burnaby Minor Baseball Association was recently named the 2012 association of the year at B.C. Minor Baseball's 50th anniversary banquet.

The association was chosen from 45 member associations across British Columbia for Burnaby's achievement and effort in developing the sport of baseball and contributing to the development of Burnaby's young citizens in the process.

Marlene Keddie, director and registrar for Burnaby Minor, was also added to the BCMBA honour roll for her 15 years of volunteer support with the association.

Burnaby Minor has been providing boys and girls with high-caliber house and league baseball

programs that teach the fundamentals of baseball and sharpen skills of long-time players for decades. Their volunteer supported programs contribute to developing basic athletic skills as well as long-term athlete development for children from the ages of four through 18 in line with other regional clubs affiliated with B.C. Minor Baseball.

The Burnaby association also supports the Challenger baseball program - providing children with cognitive or physical disabilities the opportunity to enjoy the full benefits of participation in baseball by bringing them together to play ball.

The 2013 season is proving to be another banner year. The Association is in the process of raising funds for new training facilities at their home field at Kensington Park and will be hosting the John Main Memorial Tournament for Peewee AA teams from across the province from May 23 - 26.

Registrations for the upcoming season are now being accepted. Details can be found at www.burnabyminorbaseball.com.
