A team of Burnaby North Secondary School students won the under-17 division at the CBC Play On road hockey tournament in Metrotown last weekend.

The Grade 11 high school students were unbeaten in the two-day event, storming into the final day of playoffs before winning a closely contested final 5-3 over the Macedonia Muckn' Tuck team on Sunday.

The Swish Crew United team of captain Filippo Mainella, Naythan Rasquinha, Michael Brletic, Aidan Milburn, Taylor Boylan, Amit Sidhu and goalie James Fowler, won its quarter-final match by a score of 7-4 over Team Cheese before squeaking into the final with a 6-5 victory over a team bedecked in Hawaiian shirts called Baby is it Spring or is it Summer.

Coach Roshen Jaswal credited the win to a splendid all-around team effort.

The Burnaby boys, who have been friends and classmates since Grade 8, also won the under-15 division at the CBC road hockey tourney in 2010.
