Midget A1 forwards Luke Alexander, Brennan Bifano, Tanner Gattinger, Marco Romano and Matthew Vela, and goalie Matt Santorelli were invited to the tourney along with A2 forward Trevor Heselton.

Gattinger was awarded one of the Vancouver Canucks special bursary awards.

In the final game, Bifano, playing on an all-Burnaby line with Romano and Vela, scored the game-winning goal in overtime.

On a point streak

Joey LaLeggia helped the University of Denver win its fifth straight NCAA Division I hockey game following a weekend sweep over Alaska Anchorage.

The former Burnaby Winter Club product scored a goal and added two assists in a 6-3 win in Anchorage on Jan. 28. He later potted two helpers in a 4-2 win.

LaLeggia has garnered 16 points during a current eight-game point streak, including four goals.

Point-a-game plus

Burnaby defenceman Al Mazur posted his fourth assist in three games with the Ontario Reign of the East Coast Hockey League.

Mazur picked up a helper in Ontario's 5-1 win over the Bakersfield Condors on Jan. 28. He assisted on Derek Couture's overtime game-winner in a 2-1 victory over the Condors.

Chipping away

Dustin Mowrey chipped in with three assists for No. 6 Cornell in back-to-back losses to Colgate in East Coast college hockey.
