Burnaby Peewee team wins playoff shootout

Burnaby Minor Bulldog team edges Seafair 3-2 for peewee house playoff banner

The Burnaby Minor Bulldogs C6 won the peewee gold playoff banner in a 3-2 shootout over Seafair C4 at the Richmond Ice Centre.
Both teams arrived early, excited and eager to play their final game. These teams were in the same group for the regular season and wins and losses were exchanged many times.
The first period was a tough battle with both goalies stopping everything that was brought to their doorstep, Max Shepherd of Burnaby and Seafair’s Evan Panjwani were amazing in goal, holding the period at zero with the help of rock-solid defences.
The second period started off much like the end of the first until Burnaby’s Aaron Mak scored with 7:37 remaining.

Seafair answered back with a goal from Joshua Warr to end the period tied 1-1.
Seafair took the lead in the final period when Joey Houston scored, but just over two-and-a-half minutes later, Mak knottedthe score with his second of the game.
The five-minute overtime period remained scoreless and the dreaded shootout had to be implemented. The players would now have to go head to head against two of the top peewee goalies.
The Shootout:
Joey Houston started the shootout for Seafair with a quick wrist shot over the right pad of Max Shepherd.
Burnaby’s Cameron Li  tried for the right top corner but missed.
Cameron Isobe shot the puck over the cross bar and hit the back netting.
Kishan Randerwala deked and scored with a backhand into the open net behind Panjwani.
Brandon Bae tried testing the right pad of Max Shepherd but was denied.
The Burnaby parents erupted with GO Aaron GO!!!! as Mak took his shot and the puck hit the top of the goalie’s right shoulder and trickles past him to end the shootout.
Burnaby secured the Playoff Banner, 3-2 playing the toughest game of the 2015 season.
Burnaby C6 is the only Burnaby Peewee team to win both the regular season and playoff banner back-to-back for the 2014-2015 season.
