Burnaby player helps Canada to test shutout over U.S.

The New Westminster pair were among 15 Lower Mainland field hockey players named to the Canadian men's junior national team for a four-match test series versus the United States.

Matthew scored a pair of goals, including the first-half game-winner on a field goal. Brenden tallied Canada's fourth goal of the game.

The Canadians opened the test series with a 3-0 victory. Burnaby Field Hockey Club's Gabriel Ho-Garcia scored a single goal in the win.

Ali Curriumbhoy, and C.J. Roydhouse of Burnaby were also named to Canada's 18-man squad for the series.

The two countries played a third test Tuesday (after NOW deadlines). The series wrapped up today (Wednesday)

The test series is part of Canada's junior team preparation for the upcoming junior World Cup qualifier in September.
